After Instagram, Teen Accounts now available on Facebook and Messenger

Meta has unveiled a new feature, Teen Accounts, on its platforms Facebook and Messenger, aimed at creating a safer online environment for younger users. This initiative seeks to provide an app experience that actively limits exposure to inappropriate content, thereby fostering a more secure digital space for teens.

Expansion Plans

Currently, Teen Accounts are rolling out in select markets, specifically the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. Meta has expressed intentions to broaden the availability of this feature to additional regions in the near future, reflecting its commitment to enhancing user safety across its platforms.

This move follows the introduction of Teen Accounts on Instagram last year, a response to increasing scrutiny from US lawmakers regarding the platform’s protective measures for adolescent users. By implementing these accounts, Meta aims to address concerns and demonstrate its dedication to the well-being of its younger audience.
