The company plans to spend between billion and billion this year to support AI initiatives, which is an increase from earlier projections. Meta is also facing legal challenges regarding youth safety, warning of potential material losses due to ongoing lawsuits. To manage its finances while investing in AI, Meta is reducing its workforce by laying off about 8,000 employees and canceling plans to fill 6,000 open roles.

“Pixel Glow” is a forthcoming feature for future Pixel phones that will use subtle light and color on the back of the device to notify users of significant notifications while the phone is face down. It will be compatible with Gemini and will notify users of calls from favorite contacts. The Pixel Diagnostics app includes a “Color LED Check” to test the functionality of the LEDs, which will illuminate in red, green, and blue hues. Google is incorporating eight LEDs for the “Pixel Glow” feature, with a system designed to detect hardware failures. An animation has been discovered that shows an LED strip along the inner edge of an upcoming Pixel laptop, potentially illuminating in colors similar to the Gemini interface.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on incorporating support for notification bubbles, a feature that allows conversations to be displayed in a floating format, enabling users to switch between chats and other applications easily. This feature is currently in early beta versions and is not yet available to the general public. Unlike Facebook Messenger, which uses a semi-custom solution for bubbles on non-Pixel devices, WhatsApp aims for a more cohesive implementation that aligns with Android's native bubble functionality. There is no official timeline for the rollout of this feature to all users.
