Meta working on resolving Facebook, Instagram outage

In a recent update, tech giant Meta has announced significant progress in addressing a widespread outage that disrupted services for thousands of users across Canada and beyond. The company conveyed its optimism through a post on “X,” stating, “We’re 99% of the way there – just doing some last checks.”

Impact on Popular Applications

The outage impacted several of Meta’s key applications, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Facebook Messenger. According to data from the third-party monitoring site Downdetector.com, users reported difficulties accessing these platforms during the incident.

Earlier on Wednesday, Meta acknowledged the situation, clarifying that “a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps.” The company emphasized its commitment to resolving the issue “as quickly as possible.”

The disruption reportedly began at 12:40 p.m. ET, reaching its peak at 1:05 p.m. ET, with connectivity being restored shortly thereafter. This incident follows a similar outage earlier this year, which also left thousands of users unable to access Meta’s services due to a technical glitch.
