On Wednesday, Slack, the popular workplace messaging application, experienced a significant outage that disrupted communication for numerous users. The company acknowledged the issue on its help center website, stating, “We’ve received feedback that Slack is having some trouble and we’re investigating. Please visit Slack Status to see the latest updates.”

At 10:27 a.m. Eastern Time, Slack’s status tracker indicated that users were encountering difficulties in using or loading the platform. By approximately 1 p.m. ET, the company reported that it was “still working to restore functionality to affected Slack features such as sending messages, workflows, threads, and other API-related features.”

In a statement to CBS MoneyWatch, Slack confirmed that its “teams are aware and are investigating the issue,” advising users to monitor updates on status.slack.com.
During the peak of the outage, over 3,000 users reported an inability to access the platform, as noted by DownDetector. However, by mid-morning, some services began to recover, including group and direct messaging, as well as emoticon reactions. The root cause of the outage remains unclear.
As a subsidiary of Salesforce, Slack serves a vast array of global workspaces, boasting more than 200,000 paid customers and daily active users across over 150 countries.
