What you need to know
- Google’s Android 15 space-themed easter egg has a hidden feature where users can set it as a screen saver.
- The screen saver will automatically play the “Landroid” easter egg on Pixel Tablets and Pixel phones.
- Android 15 Beta 4 brings Google closer to a full release, possibly coinciding with the launch of the Pixel 9.
Google always adds a touch of fun to its major OS releases, and Android 15 is no exception with its space theme. In this year’s easter egg, Android’s Bugdroid mascot flies through space, lands on Earth, and plants a yellow flag. This expands on the easter egg seen in Android 14, with an added twist.
Pixel phone users can also enjoy this feature by navigating to Settings > Display & Touch > Screen Saver after viewing the easter egg. This can be accessed in Android 15 Beta 4 by going to Settings, then About Phone, and tapping “Android Version” three times to reveal the logo, which can be long-pressed to activate the game.
Android 15 Beta 4 was recently rolled out to testers, introducing changes like the shift from PNGs to vector emojis, allowing for larger emojis without compromising quality. The update also included Private Spaces, offering users more privacy options.
Code discoveries hinted at Pixel’s “Satellite SOS” feature, suggesting that Google may charge users for this service in the future. As we move closer to the full release of Android 15, speculation is mounting that it could coincide with the launch of the Pixel 9 series in August.
