Android 16 QPR1 delivers a colorful Settings app redesign [Gallery]

In the latest iteration of Android, version 16 QPR1, unveiled unexpectedly during Google I/O 2025, the Settings app emerges as a standout feature, showcasing a vibrant transformation. This update introduces a refreshing palette of colors, breathing new life into what was once a rather monochromatic interface.

The design overhaul aligns with Google’s Material 3 Expressive, a new design language that aims to enhance user experience through bold aesthetics. The lock screen is one of the elements that has notably adopted this bolder appearance, setting the tone for the overall visual upgrade.

The Settings app, in particular, has received a significant facelift. Previously dominated by various shades of gray, the app now boasts a spectrum of pastel colors, with each category adorned in its unique hue. This change not only enhances the visual appeal but also aids in navigation, as users can quickly identify different sections at a glance.

Interestingly, the color assignments among categories do not follow a strict logic. For instance, both the Connected devices and Network & internet categories share a light blue tone, while the Apps category stands out with a darker blue. Meanwhile, System and About phone retain their gray tones, providing a subtle nod to the previous design.

Despite the aesthetic enhancements, the functionality of the Settings app remains unchanged. The primary goal of this redesign appears to be to create a more inviting and engaging environment for users, aligning with the broader visual strategy of Android 16 QPR1.
