The Gemini overlay on Android has received a refreshing update, introducing a new glow effect that enhances the user experience. Previously, the vibrant colors of Google were limited to the pill-shaped prompt box, but now the glow extends to the perimeter of the screen, creating a more immersive visual experience. The predominant blue hue, complemented by hints of red, green, and yellow at the bottom, gracefully fades after a few seconds, adding a touch of dynamism to the interface.
On the web front, the Temporary chat feature has undergone a significant redesign. The dotted icon that once resided in the side panel next to “New chat” has been relocated to a more prominent position at the top-right corner, adjacent to the user’s profile image and subscription status. This change not only makes the Temporary chat icon more visible, encased in a blue circle when activated, but also helps declutter the side panel, enhancing overall usability.
However, users will need to navigate back to the homepage if they wish to initiate a Temporary chat while already engaged in a conversation. This minor adjustment aims to streamline the user interface, making it more intuitive and user-friendly.
As of today, these updates are being rolled out to all Gemini accounts on the web, though availability on mobile devices remains somewhat limited. For those eager to experience the new glow effect on their Android devices, a simple force stop of the Google app may expedite the rollout process.
