The vast expanse of the internet offers a treasure trove of information, yet navigating this sea of resources can often feel daunting. In response to this challenge, Google has introduced its Deep Research feature, designed to streamline the research process for users. This innovative tool is now being rolled out on Android devices, enhancing the Gemini app’s capabilities.

Deep Research: A New Era of Information Gathering

In December, Google unveiled several advancements in artificial intelligence, with Deep Research emerging as a notable highlight for everyday users. This feature, part of the Gemini Advanced suite, acts as an intelligent assistant that conducts in-depth research on behalf of users.

Previously available to Gemini Advanced users on desktop and mobile web, Deep Research is now accessible through the free Gemini Android app. Users can easily activate this feature by selecting “1.5 pro with Deep Research” from the app’s drop-down menu.

With Deep Research, users can pose specific questions about topics of interest. The AI feature then formulates a multi-step research plan, which users can either approve or modify. Upon approval, the AI embarks on a web-browsing journey, gathering information over a few minutes, much like a human researcher would.

This process involves making iterative searches and refining results until a comprehensive understanding is achieved. The culmination of this effort is a detailed report, complete with links to original sources for those who wish to delve deeper into specific areas. Users can further refine their findings with follow-up questions, and once satisfied, export the final report directly into Google Docs.

Gemini Advanced is part of the Google One AI Premium plan, which is available for per month. This subscription not only grants access to Deep Research but also includes a variety of additional benefits, such as 2TB of cloud storage, enhanced Google Photos editing features, 10% back in Google Store rewards, premium video calling options via Google Meet, and Gemini for Workspace. To entice new users, Google is also offering a two-month free trial of this comprehensive plan.
