Google shares simple fix for millions of Windows 10 users

Google, in collaboration with refurbished electronics retailer Back Market, is offering a USB memory stick that allows users to install ChromeOS Flex for free, providing an alternative to Windows 10 and addressing the end of support for the operating system. The ChromeOS Flex USB Kit simplifies the installation process and aims to extend the lifespan of aging PCs, potentially preventing millions of functioning devices from being discarded. As of October 14, 2025, Microsoft ceased all support for Windows 10, leaving vulnerabilities unaddressed. Approximately one-third of Windows devices still run on Windows 10, and users can opt for an additional year of updates at a cost of around £22. ChromeOS Flex has lower system requirements than Windows 11 but lacks features like Android app installation. It helps ensure security updates for existing devices and contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing electronic waste and carbon emissions associated with new device manufacturing. The physical kit is priced at around €3 and is reusable.

Perplexity is changing its wake word from ‘Hey Plex,’ and here’s the proof

Users of the Samsung Galaxy S26 reported issues with the integration of Perplexity AI, specifically that the app was missing from the voice wake-up list and the wake word "Hey Plex" was not functioning. Samsung described the situation as part of an "ongoing product refinement process" but did not clarify the cause. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas hinted at a transition to a new wake word, "Hey Perplexity," which is supported by an update to the Perplexity Android app (version 2.81.2) that prepares for this change. The app is being updated with screens related to the new command, indicating that the transition is in progress. Speculation suggests that the change may be to differentiate from the Plex media service and address potential pronunciation challenges. This Free Android App Uses Sound to Fight Motion Sickness

Samsung's Hearapy app addresses motion sickness by using sound to alleviate symptoms. It is based on a study from Nagoya University that found exposure to a 100Hz tone for one minute can reduce motion sickness. The app emits a 100 Hz bass sine wave at 80-85dB through earphones, engaging the vestibular system to override conflicting sensory signals. Listening for 60 seconds can provide about two hours of relief. The app is available on the Google Play Store and works with any Android device. For optimal results, users should listen at a high volume, and Samsung recommends using Galaxy Buds 4 Pro for best sound quality. Other compatible options include the Soundpeats H3 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2. The Puro Sound Labs PuroPro is suggested for younger users due to its volume limit.
