The first four codenames are believed to correspond to the anticipated Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold models. However, the mention of “formosan” stands out, as it has previously been associated with the Pixel 11a, a detail that has resurfaced after being initially reported by Android Headlines in May.
This recent appearance of the codename within Google’s own application lends credibility to the notion that development of the budget-friendly Pixel 11a is already underway. While codenames alone do not guarantee the eventual release of a product, the presence of “formosan” in a first-party app suggests a significant level of progress.
Looking Ahead
As for the timeline, consumers may need to exercise patience. Google introduced the Pixel 10a in March 2026, establishing a pattern for its A-series phones to launch in the spring. If this trend continues, the Pixel 11a could make its debut around March 2027.
