Google accidentally leaves a Pixel 11a clue in its Phone app

The beta version of Google’s Phone app (version 230.0.946661649-publicbeta-pixel) reveals internal codenames for the upcoming Pixel 11 lineup, including "cubs," "grizzly," "kodiak," "yogi," and "formosan." The first four are believed to correspond to the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold models. The codename "formosan" is associated with the budget-friendly Pixel 11a, indicating that its development is underway. The Pixel 11a is expected to launch around March 2027, following the pattern of previous A-series phones. No specifications or features have been disclosed for these codenames, but their emergence suggests active preparation for the next generation of Pixel devices. The Pixel 11 series is set to be revealed on August 12.

Microsoft’s veteran engineer says Windows 8 was all built around “modern” codenames — including the polarizing Start menu

Microsoft unveiled Windows 8 on June 1, 2011, and ceased support for it on January 12, 2016. During its development, the team referred to it as "the modern experience" to distinguish it from Windows 7, known as "the classic experience." The new shell was called "modern shell" or "MoSh," while the old shell was referred to as "classic shell" or "ClaSh." The Start menu was initially called "Go page" and later renamed "MoGo." Other components were similarly named, such as "MoSet" for the settings control panel and "MoCo" for the ListView control. Microsoft is currently working on a project called Windows K2 to address issues in Windows 11, allowing users to postpone updates indefinitely and reducing the visibility of Copilot based on feedback. NVIDIA N1 and N1X: new leak data show multiple Windows-on-Arm chips for notebooks

NVIDIA is preparing to enter the Windows PC market with at least two distinct ARM chip product tiers, the N1 and N1X, although these remain unverified. The N1X will have two configurations: a larger variant with 20 CPU cores (10+10 layout), 48 Blackwell Streaming Multiprocessors (6,144 CUDA cores), and a smaller variant with 18 CPU cores (9+9 layout) and 40 SMs (5,120 CUDA cores). The power envelope for the N1X models is projected to be between 45 to 80 watts. The smaller N1 variant is expected to have a power range of 18 to 45 watts and up to 20 SMs. Retailer listings suggest that Lenovo may offer models like the Yoga Pro 7 15.3 with NVIDIA N1X configurations and options for 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. NVIDIA and Microsoft plan to unveil the first Windows PCs featuring NVIDIA chips, with potential vendors including Microsoft’s Surface brand and Dell. The success of the Windows-on-Arm platform will depend on factors beyond CUDA core count, such as native applications, drivers, power management, and gaming compatibility. NVIDIA's extensive resources, including CUDA and AI frameworks, may give it an advantage over competitors like Qualcomm.
