Previously, in version 8.6.1, the minimal gap created an optical illusion where the pill seemed to overlap with the two circular buttons above it. With the new update, this visual confusion has been alleviated, as the display and buttons have been slightly resized to create a more harmonious layout. While the change may be imperceptible to the casual user, it reflects Google’s ongoing commitment to refining user experience.
Visual Adjustments Across Orientations
This spacing adjustment applies uniformly to both portrait and landscape orientations, ensuring consistency in usability whether users are calculating in a traditional or scientific format.
Currently, Google Calculator 8.7 is being rolled out through the Play Store, although its availability is still limited. For those eager to experience the update sooner, sideloading options are available.
Following the last minor patch released a year ago, the Calculator app has reached a level of maturity, with its most significant overhaul occurring in 2022. This previous update introduced a two-column user interface optimized for larger Android devices, alongside a Quick Settings (QS) Tile that allows users to launch the app from anywhere seamlessly.
