Google is enhancing its Phone app with a new filter designed to streamline the user experience. This upcoming feature will allow users to easily separate calls that have Call Notes attached from the rest of their call history, making it simpler to access important information from past conversations.
New Features on the Horizon
Earlier this year, Google introduced several filters that improved the organization of call history. Users can already sort calls into categories such as Missed, Contacts, Non-Spam, and Spam. Now, whispers of an additional “Recordings” filter have emerged, hinting at further refinements to the app’s functionality.
For those who own a Pixel 9 or Pixel 10 series device in the United States, the Call Notes feature, launched in 2024, has added a layer of convenience. This feature transcribes conversations and generates quick summaries, allowing users to grasp the essence of their calls at a glance. However, locating these notes within a lengthy call history can be cumbersome.
To address this issue, a new filter labeled “Notes” has been spotted in the latest version of the Phone by Google app. This filter sits alongside the recently discovered Recordings chip, providing a dedicated space for users to access their Call Notes effortlessly. With this enhancement, users will no longer need to sift through their call logs to find relevant notes.
It is important to note that the Call Notes feature is currently exclusive to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series. Consequently, only owners of these models will benefit from the new filter option, while Pixel 9a users will not have access to Call Notes at this time.
As with any feature derived from an APK teardown, there is a possibility that these anticipated updates may not reach public release. Nonetheless, the potential for improved organization within the Phone app signals Google’s commitment to enhancing user experience in its mobile ecosystem.
