Google has recently implemented a series of subtle yet impactful design modifications to its Gemini AI chatbot, enhancing user experience across both the web interface and the Android application. These adjustments, while minor, are poised to streamline interactions and present more pertinent information to users.
Google Gemini App Now Displays AI Model Information
The web version of Gemini has undergone a design alignment with its app counterpart. One of the most notable changes is the reconfiguration of the text field interface. Previously, users found the Upload Images icon (for free users) or the Plus icon (for Gemini Advanced subscribers) positioned on the right side of the text field. This has now been shifted to the left side, creating a more organized appearance. The “Ask Gemini” prompt now sits adjacent to the Plus or Upload Images icon, while the microphone icon has been relocated to the far left. Although these alterations may seem minor, they contribute to a cleaner aesthetic and minimize the likelihood of accidental taps.
On the Android app, users will notice additional enhancements. Prominently displayed at the top of the screen is the AI model information, which indicates the current version being utilized. For most users, this will read Gemini Advanced followed by the designation 1.5 Pro, a clear indication of the model in use. This information is conveniently situated between the history and account menu sections. For those using Pixel devices, the designation appears as Gemini 1.5 Flash. Upon initiating a conversation with the chatbot, the Gemini Advanced label transitions to simply “1.5 Pro,” a detail first reported by 9to5Google.
Furthermore, the Android app has introduced a new feature within the account menu: the Saved Info option. This functionality, which allows the chatbot to retain user-specific information, was initially rolled out last month. However, tapping on the Saved Info menu redirects users to a browser window displaying the Saved Info website, adding a layer of accessibility to this feature.
