Google has officially rolled out its innovative video creation application, Google Vids, to a broader audience of Workspace users. This announcement marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into its suite of productivity tools.
- The Vids app harnesses the power of Gemini, Google’s advanced AI model, to offer a range of features designed to simplify the video creation process. Users can now easily craft videos with the assistance of AI-generated voice-overs, as well as receive tailored suggestions for images, videos, and music.
- Initially unveiled at the Cloud Next 2024 event in April, Google Vids entered its testing phase over the summer, paving the way for its current general availability.
At the heart of Google Vids is the “help me create” button, which empowers users to access generative AI capabilities. The app boasts a variety of templates, conveniently located in the sidebar, that serve as a foundation for users to build upon. These templates come equipped with options for different animations, transitions, and more, allowing for a personalized touch in video projects.
Moreover, Google Vids includes a built-in recording studio where users can record themselves, narrate, or capture screen recordings. For those who prefer a hands-off approach, Gemini can generate voice-overs, available at the bottom of the script panel, enhancing the overall production experience.
As Google Vids expands its reach, the company has issued a note of caution for users. While the app will be accessible to select subscription plans, features such as the “help me create” function and AI voice-overs will remain free until December 31, 2025. However, users should be aware that limitations may be imposed on these features by 2026, with further notifications to follow as that date approaches.
The rollout of Google Vids encompasses a variety of Workspace plans, including Business (Standard/Plus), Enterprise (Standard/Plus), Education Plus, Essentials, and more. Additionally, users with Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium add-ons will also gain access to this new tool.
With the feature now making its way to users, the complete rollout is expected to conclude within the next 15 days. Google Vids promises to be a game-changer, offering an AI-enhanced platform for creating compelling video content, complete with collaborative capabilities that allow multiple users to engage on projects seamlessly.
