In a significant enhancement for its Voice app, Google has announced a new update that introduces three-way calling capabilities for Workspace subscription holders. This feature allows users to initiate a call with one individual and seamlessly add another participant, effectively creating a conference call experience.
The update also brings a refreshed user interface, designed to streamline the calling experience. Key tools are now more accessible, making it easier for users to manage their calls efficiently. The “Add” and “Merge” options are prominently displayed, ensuring that users can navigate the new features with ease.
This update is available to Google Workspace customers subscribed to Voice Starter, Voice Standard, and Voice Premier plans, as well as SIP Link Standard and SIP Link Premier customers. The rollout commenced on May 1 and is expected to reach all Google Voice users within approximately 15 days.
Earlier this year, in February, Google Voice introduced another noteworthy feature: “call delegation.” This functionality allows users to transfer calls to another person, akin to a corporate phone line. Users can choose to transfer the call immediately or opt for an “Ask First” option, which prompts for confirmation before proceeding. Additionally, this update enabled the transfer of calls from personal accounts to paid enterprise accounts, addressing a highly requested need among users.
