This update introduces a new feature that allows users to seamlessly import passes and balances from physical transit cards using the Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities of their Android devices.
This functionality is designed to simplify the user experience, enabling individuals to easily transfer their transit card information into the digital realm. While the feature is anticipated to be compatible with select transit systems, it is important to note that popular Japanese transit IC cards such as “Suica” and “PASMO” already enjoy established integration with the Google Wallet app, meaning they may not be included in this new rollout.
The new feature will be accessible through the Android “Google Play services” app version 26.35 and later, ensuring that users can take full advantage of these advancements. Furthermore, this update will also introduce a refreshed “Card added” screen, boasting an improved user interface that enhances the overall experience within the Google Wallet app.
