Google continues to innovate with its AI capabilities, as recent findings suggest an exciting new feature may soon enhance the user experience in AI Mode. According to a report from 9to5Google, a teardown of the Google app has unveiled hints of a “Live for AI Mode” feature that promises to elevate the interaction between users and AI.
- Rumors indicate that this feature will heavily utilize Google Lens, potentially offering a more vocal and conversational interface akin to Gemini Live.
- Just days ago, Google expanded access to AI Mode for all Labs testers in the U.S., introducing visual cards that showcase products and locations.
The momentum behind AI Mode for Search is palpable, with Google seemingly committed to refining this latest offering. The newly discovered code suggests that the “Live for AI Mode” could function similarly to the existing Gemini Live feature, complete with an “End Session” button and a microphone mute option, allowing users to navigate their queries with ease.
Since its rollout in early April, Google has integrated Lens into AI Mode, enabling users to capture images and verbally inquire about them. However, the anticipated update appears to promise a more dynamic and intuitive experience, allowing for a fluid conversation with the AI. This aligns with a recent enhancement to Google Lens, which introduced a “multisearch” capability. This feature allows users to combine images with text in their searches, such as snapping a photo of a dress and specifying a desired color in the text field, prompting Lens to find similar items that meet those criteria.
While the timeline for the release of “Live for AI Mode” remains uncertain, AI Mode has already seen updates as of May 1. Following its opening to all U.S. Labs users, the feature now includes a history of previous queries, reminiscent of Gemini’s functionality. Furthermore, Google has indicated that users will soon have the ability to tap for additional details within AI Mode, presenting information in organized blocks for local establishments, including restaurants and shops. This will encompass reviews, ratings, and operational hours, catering to users’ needs for comprehensive information.
