Initially tested on Fire TV devices, the app’s expansion to Google TV was announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri in a recent Threads post. This marks a significant shift for Meta, which has predominantly concentrated on smartphones and smaller screens until now. Users in the U.S. can download the app from the Google Play Store, where it supports up to five accounts on a single Google TV device. This feature allows multiple household members to access their unique profiles and enjoy personalized feeds. Furthermore, Instagram offers the option to create a dedicated account specifically for TV viewing, catering to those who wish to curate their experience even further.
