Pixel Studio’s latest update marks the end of the Pixel-exclusive app

In a significant shift for its creative suite, Google has announced the latest update for Pixel Studio, version 2.3.001.911719150, effectively signaling the end of the app’s image and sticker creation features. Initially launched in 2024 alongside the Pixel 9 series, Pixel Studio was designed to harness AI technology for generating digital art, wallpapers, and stickers. However, users are now greeted with a message redirecting them to utilize Nano Banana within the Gemini app for their creative needs.

Changes to Pixel Studio

The recent update has stripped away the ability to create new images and stickers, a functionality that had been gradually diminishing in prior versions. While users can still access previously generated content, the app’s long-term viability on the Pixel 9 and 10 series remains uncertain. The basic screenshot editing interface is still operational, but it lacks the unique features that once set Pixel Studio apart from other editing tools.

As part of this transition, Google has also hinted at the discontinuation of sticker-generation capabilities in a recent Gboard update, which eliminated the Sticker Creation tab. This raises questions about whether Pixel Studio will be entirely removed from Pixel devices or retained solely for its basic screenshot editing functionalities.

For those who relied on Pixel Studio for their creative projects, the time has come to migrate to Nano Banana within the Gemini app. This change reflects a broader strategy by Google to consolidate its creative tools under a unified platform, ensuring users have access to the latest features and enhancements in a more streamlined environment.
