What you need to know
- Samsung is rolling out updates across its Good Lock toolkit to match the One UI 8 update.
- Home Up’s refinement allows you to mess with how apps launch, adding to the animation control party started in One UI 7.
- MultiStar, NavStar, and QuickStar are also now fully updated and compatible with One UI 8.
In the wake of the One UI 8 launch, Samsung is enhancing its Good Lock modules to ensure seamless compatibility with the latest software. Earlier this year, One UI 7 introduced several refinements to Good Lock, particularly spotlighting Home Up, which empowered users to customize their home screens with unique animation flows and wallpaper transitions. With the arrival of One UI 8, Samsung is taking this customization even further, allowing users to adjust how applications spring to life on their screens.
Previously, app launch animations were somewhat restricted in One UI 7, but One UI 8 opens the door to a more dynamic experience.
Home Up’s glow-up continues
The DIY Home Screen feature has received a significant update, now brimming with new tools designed to enhance user experience. Among these enhancements are alignment guides, item grouping options, and a variety of sleek app launch animations, all aimed at helping users fine-tune their setups to their liking. This update also introduces a “Page Indicator Hiding” toggle, allowing for a cleaner aesthetic on the home screen. Additionally, users can now enjoy horizontal scrolling when sorting apps alphabetically, along with a few other minor tweaks to enhance usability.
Android Authority has reported that MultiStar, NavStar, and QuickStar have also been updated to align with One UI 8, unlocking new features such as a Flip 7-exclusive “Launcher widget” that allows users to place app widgets directly onto the cover screen.

Additionally, the update introduces two new multi-window settings for devices equipped with multi-window support. One setting provides a quick-access icon for flipping screen orientations, while the other allows users to toggle between 16:9 and 21:9 aspect ratios while in portrait mode. With the Good Lock modules now fully optimized, the stage is set for One UI 8 to begin its rollout to older Galaxy devices, inviting more dedicated users to explore the suite of new features and enhancements.
