Samsung has recently unveiled a significant update to its SmartThings mobile application, enhancing the user experience with a host of new features. The latest version, 1.8.33.25, introduces a range of functionalities aimed at making smart home management more intuitive and personalized.
New Features Unveiled
The update includes a variety of enhancements, as detailed in the changelog:
- Home Life Survey: Accessible via the menu tab, this survey invites users to share details about their household, interests, and desired experiences with SmartThings. The insights gathered will help tailor recommendations and highlight features that may be of interest.
- Flexible Routine Configurations: Users can now enjoy more precise control over their routines, including notifications prior to routine initiation and the ability to set delays between multiple actions within a single routine.
- Galaxy Tag Location Sharing: This feature allows users to create temporary links to share the location of their Galaxy Tag with friends and family. Options for link expiration include 12 hours, 24 hours, or a week, enabling close contacts to track the device through the SmartThings web app.
- Enhanced Map View Navigation: The update makes Map View the default interface upon opening the app, while also simplifying navigation between Map View and the Home tab.
In addition to these listed features, the update also introduces support for SmartThings in the Now Bar and Live Notifications, allowing users to toggle SmartThings on or off directly from the Now Bar settings. This enhancement, however, was not included in the official changelog.
While such a comprehensive update is a welcome development for SmartThings users, it is worth noting that the rollout is occurring in phases, meaning not all users will receive the update simultaneously. This strategic approach aims to ensure a smooth transition and optimal performance across the platform.
