Some of the GSMArena Android app users encountered a bug, do this if you are affected

Earlier this month, our mobile app encountered some unexpected challenges, primarily stemming from a beta version of the Android System WebView component. The issue, which arose following the July 2025 Google System Update, affected a limited number of users, rendering content invisible in portrait mode while still functioning correctly in landscape orientation.

Resolution and Updates

In response to these reports, we promptly communicated the bug to Google, who acted swiftly to address the situation. They have since released an updated version of the WebView component, v139.0.7258.51, on the Play Store as of July 23. Users experiencing difficulties are encouraged to download this latest version via the provided link.

For those who may not see an “Update” button, a simple workaround exists: uninstall the current component and then reinstall it. This process will ensure that you are equipped with the latest version. However, it’s important to note that if you only uninstall the beta version, you will revert to the stable version temporarily, but will remain enrolled in the beta channel for future updates.

Managing Your Beta Channel Enrollment

To prevent similar issues in the future, users may consider opting out of the beta channel for the WebView component, particularly if enrollment was accidental. This can be easily managed through the provided link, where you should encounter a straightforward interface for opting out.

It’s worth mentioning that users who were not participating in the WebView beta program were unaffected by this issue and do not need to take any action. Additionally, this matter is unrelated to the beta version of the GSMArena app, ensuring that users can navigate their app experience without concern.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we worked through this matter, and we remain committed to providing a seamless experience for all our users.
