Spectrum launches streaming TV app for Google TV, Android TV devices

Charter Communications has unveiled an innovative streaming television application designed specifically for Spectrum TV subscribers, enabling them to seamlessly access channels included in their packages on devices powered by Google TV and Android TV. This launch follows closely on the heels of a similar application introduced for Amazon’s Fire TV devices, showcasing Charter’s commitment to enhancing viewer accessibility.

The Spectrum TV app is readily available for free download from both the Google Play Store and the Amazon App Store, allowing users to enjoy the same channels they would typically access through their set-top boxes, now on Internet-connected smart TVs throughout their homes.

Enhanced Viewing Experience

Elena Ritchie, Senior Vice President of Video at Spectrum, expressed enthusiasm about the new app, stating, “Launching the Spectrum TV App on Google TV and other Android TV OS devices expands how customers can enjoy Spectrum TV. It’s another step in giving customers more choice and flexibility in how and where they watch.”

The app boasts a variety of features designed to enhance the viewing experience. Among these is a multiview capability, allowing subscribers to watch up to four channels simultaneously on a single screen. Additionally, the cloud DVR feature empowers customers to pause, rewind, and record live television programming, ensuring they never miss a moment of their favorite shows.

Moreover, the Spectrum TV app offers a comprehensive on-demand catalog, providing access to thousands of TV shows and movies, further enriching the content available to users. The app is compatible with a range of platforms, including Apple TV, Roku, Xumo, Xbox, and smart TVs from manufacturers like Samsung, LG, and Vizio. For those on the go, smartphone and tablet applications are also available, ensuring that Spectrum TV subscribers can enjoy their favorite content anytime, anywhere.
