Seamless Migration Experience
The online migration capability supports a variety of sources, including on-premises PostgreSQL, Azure VMs, Amazon RDS, Aurora, and Google Cloud SQL. Accessible through both the Azure Portal and Azure CLI, this feature ensures that data remains continuously synchronized between the source and target servers. This synchronization allows businesses to maintain operational continuity while data is transferred in the background, significantly reducing potential interruptions.
As the synchronization process approaches zero latency, users are prepared to execute the final cutover, seamlessly shifting all connections to the new environment. Prior to this critical step, Microsoft recommends halting all write operations on the source system and thoroughly validating the migrated data.
