Samsung Expands Live Translate Function to Third-Party Apps

Samsung has announced that the Live Translate function, initially introduced on the Galaxy S24, will soon be accessible for use in third-party applications. Currently, this feature is limited to the standard Phone app on Galaxy smartphones and tablets. However, with the upcoming Live Translate extension, users will have the ability to utilize real-time language translation during calls on popular apps like Telegram and WhatsApp.

Although specific apps compatible with Live Translate have not been disclosed yet, it is anticipated that all major VoIP apps, such as Facebook Messenger, Google Meet, Telegram, Viber, and WhatsApp, will be supported. The Live Translate function enables users to translate their voice into the other person’s language and vice versa, with a live transcription of the two-way translation displayed on the phone screen.

Samsung highlighted the significant contributions of its research and development centers worldwide, including those in China, India, Poland, and Vietnam, in the development of the Live Translate feature. The multilingual staff at these centers played a crucial role in helping the company gain a deeper understanding of local languages and accents.
