Google Gemini AI assistant app comes to the UK

Google Launches Gemini App on Android, Coming Soon to iOS

A new Gemini app has been introduced on Google’s Android mobile operating system, with plans for Apple’s iOS users to access Gemini through the existing Google app in the coming weeks, as announced by the tech giant.

This strategic move will make Google’s flagship artificial intelligence product available to a wider audience, enabling users to engage with the virtual assistant through text, voice, and images.

Jules Walter, group product manager for Gemini experiences at Google, expressed the company’s commitment to expanding Gemini’s accessibility globally, stating, “By broadening our language support and entering new markets, we aim to empower more individuals to enhance their ideas with Gemini.”

He further explained, “With the Gemini app on your mobile device, you can utilize text, voice, or images for various assistance purposes, such as seeking guidance on changing a flat tire by snapping a picture or crafting a thank you note.”

Google’s initiative aligns with the escalating competition among major tech companies for supremacy in the AI sector. Microsoft recently unveiled AI-powered laptops and tablets featuring its Copilot AI assistant, while OpenAI introduced an enhanced version of ChatGPT, a popular chatbot capable of seamless interaction across voice, text, and visual inputs.

However, the rapid advancement of AI technology has encountered challenges. Google faced backlash for a racially biased image generation tool, prompting an apology, while OpenAI had to remove a voice from ChatGPT due to its resemblance to actress Scarlett Johansson, who declined involvement with the app.
