Allegations of Design Imitation in Microsoft's New Copilot App

Specifically, the layout of the Copilot app features a side menu on the left, akin to the ChatGPT app, complete with a chat history panel. While the color schemes may differ, the overall user experience seems to echo that of ChatGPT's interface.
It's not unusual for companies to draw inspiration from successful products in the market, and Microsoft's choice to adopt a familiar UI could be a strategic move to ease users into the new app. Nonetheless, some might argue that a company of Microsoft's caliber could have infused more originality into its design.
Unique Features of the Revamped Copilot App
Despite the similarities, the revamped Copilot app does introduce some unique elements. For instance, the placement of the accounts label has been shifted from the bottom left to the top right corner of the interface, making room for the Notebooks and Plugins options in its former location.
Moreover, the updated Copilot app boasts enhanced flexibility, allowing users to dock the app window anywhere on the desktop, not just to the side. This added convenience is complemented by the ability to resize the app window as needed. Additionally, the Copilot app icon now enjoys a more prominent position at the center of the Windows 11 taskbar, a shift from its previous placement at the taskbar's edge.
