Google Find My Device Update Introduces Family Devices Tab
Google Find My Device has received a new update that introduces a crucial new feature that has been missing since its inception. This new feature aims to make it easier for users to locate and track the linked devices used by family members, especially children.
With the latest update, the Find My Device app now includes a dedicated “Family devices” tab. This tab lists all the devices managed under the same family or primary account, providing users with a convenient way to keep track of their family’s devices.
According to Android Authority, the new tab is now live in Find My Device v3.1.078-1. Users can access the dedicated Family devices tab, which displays a comprehensive list of managed devices.
It is worth noting that the Family Devices tab only shows Android devices managed by the primary account, not devices associated with other family members, despite its name.
APK Mirror owner Artem Russakovskii demonstrated the feature in action through a post on X (formerly Twitter). He highlighted that if a user has multiple supervised accounts, all accounts will be listed and sorted alphabetically, with devices grouped by account.
In addition to the Family Devices tab, Google is also planning to add support for UWB (Ultra-Wideband) within the Find My Devices app. This update will enable third-party trackers to work seamlessly with the app, enhancing its accessibility and functionality.
