Pocket Casts app now available on Android TV

The Pocket Casts app is now available for download on Android TV and Google TV devices, following its debut on Apple TV. This native app is designed for television screens and allows users to pair it with their existing accounts using a QR code, synchronizing all podcast subscriptions, playlists, and account data. It features a "Made for TV" section for video podcasts and maintains a similar interface to its Apple TV version. Users can continue audio playback while minimizing the app and easily access upcoming podcasts. Some users may face difficulties searching for the app directly on their devices, but it can be downloaded via a web browser on the Play Store.

Google will now let anyone build apps without coding

Google is introducing AI-powered app creation on Google Play, allowing users to build custom Android apps using Google AI Studio without needing a developer account. This feature will initially roll out in select markets, including the U.S., for users aged 18 and older. Users can create personal apps that remain separate from the public Play Store and can later transition to a professional developer account if desired. Additionally, Google is enhancing app discovery with personalized recommendations through the Ask Play feature and integrating Play Store content into Gemini conversations. The Game Finder tool will provide tailored game recommendations based on user preferences, and Google is launching Game Playlists for users to curate and share collections of games. To foster community engagement, Google is introducing features like Sprints for competitive play, a Sidekick feature for recording gameplay clips, and Community Posts for interaction on game pages. Google is also expanding its PC gaming offerings with new titles and cross-play capabilities, alongside introducing Game Trials for PC games. For families, Google is implementing a privacy option for age-restricted apps through Family Link and launching Play Fest, a week-long promotion with various rewards. This overhaul aims to transform Google Play from a simple app store into a platform for app creation, community interaction, and personalized experiences.

One click let you escape Microsoft’s forced sign-in on Windows 11. Of course, Microsoft killed it

Recent changes in Windows 11's setup process have made it difficult for users to create local accounts, as the previously accessible link for bypassing the Microsoft account requirement now redirects to a data management page. Testing of the latest Windows 11 26H2 ISO revealed that this shortcut has been closed off, with no option to proceed without a Microsoft account. Microsoft has been actively blocking methods to skip the account requirement over the past year, citing concerns about incomplete configurations. Despite some acknowledgment of user frustrations from Microsoft executives, there is no indication that the Microsoft account requirement will be relaxed. Users seeking a simple local account option continue to face cumbersome alternatives, leading to calls for a more user-friendly setup process.

Forget Sony’s barely existent PS5 exclusives, this developer wants to turn the console into a Windows gaming machine

A developer named Mihawk has successfully run Windows 11 on the PS5 through a project called Mihawk OS, allowing both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows games to operate on a jailbroken PS5. Mihawk has also integrated RetroArch, enabling various emulators to function on the console. Early reports indicate that the game HADES has been seen running in this Windows environment. This development may allow gamers to play titles like Gears of War: E-Day natively on the PS5. However, jailbreaking the console can limit access to PlayStation servers and pose risks to user accounts.

NordVPN Teams With Shaquille O’Neal To Promote Online Protection

NordVPN organized an event in Times Square featuring Shaquille O'Neal to highlight the importance of online protection. A survey revealed that nearly half of Americans are confident in identifying online fraud, yet 74% failed to recognize a fake URL, 82% could not identify a fake CAPTCHA, and less than half recognized a phishing email. Additionally, 71% believe common sense is enough for online safety, while 51% reuse similar passwords. Nearly half rely solely on antivirus software for protection, and 73% reported encountering scams, with 13% losing or nearly losing money. Shaquille O'Neal emphasized the need for vigilance and using the right tools for online safety, while NordVPN's CMO noted the disconnect between confidence and actual skills in cybersecurity.

LineageOS 24 nightly build for Google Pixel 10

LineageOS has released a new nightly build, LineageOS 24.0, for the Google Pixel 10 (codenamed frankel), dated October 11, 2026, with a size of 1.61 GiB and an October 2026 security patch level. The build is named lineage-24.0-20261011-nightly-frankel-signed.zip and is based on the Android 17 framework. Installation requires the latest Android 17 firmware, a computer with adb and fastboot, USB debugging enabled, and prior booting into the stock operating system. Users should check essential features like SMS and calls, and remove Google accounts to avoid Factory Reset Protection issues. Apps requiring device-integrity checks may not function correctly. Nightly builds for the Pixel 10 Pro were reported available on October 12, 2026, while builds for other models like the Pixel 10a, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold have not yet been released.

Windows 11’s easiest account bypass gets the Microsoft boot

Microsoft has closed a loophole in the setup process for consumer versions of Windows 11 that allowed users to bypass the requirement for a Microsoft account. Previously, users could click on the "Learn More" option during setup to enter a name and password without needing an account. This workaround has been confirmed as removed by Windows enthusiast Bob Pony. Attempts to replicate this method on genuine Intel hardware have shown it is no longer functional. Users must now navigate a more complex array of workarounds to set up Windows 11 without an account. Microsoft mandates account creation during the initial setup for both Windows 11 Home and Pro editions intended for personal use.

Adding WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Email Chats to an Android App Without Rebuilding Each One

Field sales applications, recruitment tools, and property management systems can integrate with messaging platforms on Android devices, addressing the need for users to view conversations directly within the app. A unified messaging API simplifies the integration process for developers, as each messaging channel has distinct authentication methods and message formats. The Android application should only communicate with a backend that interacts with the messaging API for security, event handling, and policy enforcement. Users can link their accounts through a hosted authentication link, reducing coding efforts. The unified API supports various platforms, including WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Telegram, Instagram, Gmail, and Outlook. When a message arrives, the messaging API triggers a webhook, and the relay service verifies the request, stores the message, identifies users, and sends push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). To ensure functionality in offline scenarios, the app should render conversation lists from local storage and manage outgoing messages with a WorkManager. Attachments should be handled efficiently by listing them as metadata and downloading them on demand, while uploads should involve client-side compression and resumable requests. By following this approach, developers maintain a single conversation model and sync engine, abstracting complexities associated with multiple messaging providers.
