Everything new in Minecraft Bedrock 26.30.25/26 beta and preview

Mojang has released the Minecraft 26.30.25/26 Beta and preview build, introducing new features such as Geysers that launch players skyward and Sulfur Cubes that can absorb TNT blocks with varying fuse times based on activation methods. The update includes bug fixes, such as correct generation of iron doors and stone buttons in strongholds, crafting adjustments for Sulfur Spikes, and improvements to video settings and user interface. Technical updates feature the transition of four entity components to the 1.26.30 format, the addition of voxel shapes for 46 vanilla blocks, and a new SoundInstance API class for sound playback control.

New Windows Insider Experience Starts Rolling Out to Some Canary Testers

Microsoft's Windows Insider program has transitioned Dev Channel testers to the new Experimental Channel and is expanding this initiative to include Canary testers on the 28000 series builds, who will also move to the Experimental (26H1) Channel. The new Windows Insider experience introduces feature flags in Windows Update settings, allowing testers to toggle features on and off. Microsoft plans to roll out new features through Controlled Feature Rollouts (CFRs) and has stopped gradual feature rollouts on the updated Beta Channel. Recently, Microsoft released four new builds available via downloadable ISOs. Canary testers on 29500 series builds will soon transition to the "Experimental (Future Platforms)" Channel and can currently download build 29580.1000, which includes a revamped Feedback Hub with a 500 MB file upload limit and design improvements. For Canary testers on the 28000 series, the transition to the "Experimental (26H1) Channel" follows the installation of build 28020.1921, which enhances the Task Manager app. Insiders who moved from the Dev Channel to the Experimental Channel can download build 26300.8346, featuring improvements such as a Widgets board that remains closed by default, a redesigned Run dialog, promotional app recommendations in Windows Share for Microsoft Entra account users, sharper file thumbnails in File Explorer, and enhanced Windows Magnifier functionality. The Beta Channel build 26220.8340 includes similar Windows Share improvements and minor UI enhancements for Task Scheduler. The Beta Channel is set to transition to a new experience that will eliminate Controlled Feature Rollouts.

The studio is working on a fix and exploring a workaround for online gameplay. Windows quality update: Progress we’ve made since March

Windows 11 KB5083631 update released with 34 changes and fixes

Microsoft has released the KB5083631 optional cumulative update for Windows 11, featuring 34 enhancements aimed at improving user experience and system performance. Key features include a new Xbox mode for immersive gaming, improved performance for startup applications, enhanced security for batch files and CMD scripts, haptic feedback on supported devices, improvements to Secure Boot, and updates to Kerberos authentication. The update also addresses issues with Windows Security event logging, eliminates a white flash in dark mode, and increases the reliability of explorer.exe processes. Users can install the update via Windows Settings under Windows Update. After installation, Windows 11 devices will be updated to builds 26100.8328 and 26200.8328. Additionally, updated Secure Boot certificates are being rolled out, and some Windows Server 2025 devices may require a BitLocker recovery key after the update.

Microsoft now lets admins choose pre-installed Store apps to uninstall

Microsoft has updated its Windows 11 operating system to enhance the management of preinstalled applications. The new RemoveDefaultMicrosoftStorePackages policy allows IT administrators to remove any preinstalled MSIX/APPX applications by referencing their Package Family Name (PFN) through Group Policy Object (GPO) or custom OMA-URI for mobile device management (MDM). This feature requires devices to have at least the April 2026 Windows non-security update. It is available for Windows 11 version 24H2 Enterprise and Education editions, whereas it was initially exclusive to version 25H2 or later. A comprehensive list of supported applications and instructions for applying the policy are provided in Microsoft's documentation. Additionally, a new policy setting enables the uninstallation of the AI-powered Copilot digital assistant from enterprise devices after the April 2026 Patch Tuesday updates. The dynamic list option for this policy will be rolled out in the coming months.

Unfrozen Studio has released Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, available on Steam Early Access and Xbox on PC (Game Preview) for .99 with a 25% launch discount until May 13. The game features six playable factions, single-player skirmish modes, procedurally generated maps, the first act of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer options, and an initial beta of a Map Editor. It supports multiple languages, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
