On October 5, 2021, Microsoft launched Windows 11. As of December 31, 2025, Windows 11 surpassed Windows 10 in performance benchmarks and achieved over one billion global users in 1,576 days, compared to 1,706 days for Windows 10. Windows 11 features a modern design and user-friendly interface but has faced challenges such as bugs and system crashes. Microsoft plans to maintain Windows 11 as a long-term platform following the end of support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.

The Googlebooks include a file transfer trick you probably didn’t know about

The recently launched Googlebooks features include Quick Access functionality, allowing seamless file management between a paired Android phone and the Googlebook. Users can access their phone's Downloads, Documents, and Camera folders through the Files app. Quick Access supports drag-and-drop for files under 200MB, while larger files should use the Quick Share feature. Another feature, Files AI, provides instant descriptions of files and enhances file searching by allowing users to search for an image's subject rather than just file names. Users need a device running Android 17 or newer to utilize these features, and Files AI may take up to an hour to activate and has limitations during low battery conditions.

Windows 11 will start telling apps your age, but Microsoft says it won’t share your birthday

Microsoft is integrating age verification directly into Windows 11, allowing applications to access users' age ranges (e.g., 13-15 or 18+) without disclosing their actual birthdays. This is facilitated through new system-level APIs, specifically the GetUserAgeRangeAsync function, which returns one of five defined age ranges: Under 10 (0-9), 10-12 (10-12), 13-15 (13-15), 16-17 (16-17), and 18+ (18 and above). Another API, GetAgeVerificationStatusAsync, indicates whether the age was independently verified with statuses like Verified, Unverified, OptedOut, TemporarilyUnavailable, or NotApplicable. Microsoft validates the identity of the calling app to ensure security, limiting access to these age signals. This initiative aligns with regulatory demands for enhanced child safety measures in regions like the UK, EU, and U.S., where states are moving toward operating-system-level mandates for age verification.
