X Announces Completion Of Year-Long Android App Rebuild

X has completed a year-long rebuild of its Android app, described by head of product Nikita Bier as one of the largest engineering projects since Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter in 2022. The app was developed from scratch to improve the user experience for Android mobile users, with plans to roll out new features more quickly. The engineering team is still working on features like hosting Spaces and optimizing performance for older devices. The rebuild was prompted by a surge in Android app downloads last year and aligns with Musk's vision of transforming X into an "everything app." The launch comes amid challenges such as reduced content moderation, an advertiser boycott, and user attrition. X has also introduced X Chat, a private messaging service, and X Money, a digital payments platform, while implementing measures to promote original content. Microsoft is moving another Outlook feature behind a Copilot paywall

Civil Servants to Switch to “Max”: New Messenger to Become Main Work Tool by 2030

The government has mandated that all work-related communications for state and municipal employees must transition to the "Max" messenger platform by 2030. The "Max" platform was developed by "Kommunikatsionnaya platforma," with a beta version launched in March 2025 and becoming a mandatory pre-installed application on new smartphones in Russia by September 2025. As of March 2026, "Max" had 100 million registered users and offered features like audio/video calls, chat, voice messaging, large file sharing, and money transfers. In July, the EU imposed sanctions on VK, the parent company of "Kommunikatsionnaya platforma," and "Max" was removed from the Apple App Store in June and from Google Play recently. VK stated that its services remain functional and are available on alternative platforms such as RuStore and Huawei AppGallery. Negotiations with Apple are ongoing to restore "Max" to the App Store.

Microsoft: Some Dell PCs shut down after recent Windows updates

Microsoft has temporarily halted the rollout of the Windows 11 security updates for certain Dell devices due to reports of shutdowns and performance issues linked to the KB5101650 cumulative update.
