F-Droid’s biggest update in a decade is coming despite Google’s sideloading crackdown

F-Droid is releasing version 2.0, which features a complete rewrite of the app in Kotlin for better support and updates. These three Microsoft 365 apps lasted just one year before getting axed

Microsoft will retire the Calendar, People, and Files companion apps from its Microsoft 365 suite on December 16, 2026. These apps were launched a year ago to enhance productivity by providing quick access to information via the Windows 11 taskbar. However, their role has shifted from essential tools to supplementary resources, as users can access the same information through existing Microsoft services. Microsoft recommends alternatives such as Outlook, Teams, Windows Search, File Explorer, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for users to utilize after the retirement of these apps.

Minecraft is moving into American Dream — but it won’t stay forever

East Rutherford, N.J. will host "Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue" starting November 13 at American Dream. This interactive adventure allows guests to explore eight realms inspired by the game over the course of one hour, where they will collect resources and work together to rescue Minecraft villagers. Participants will use an Orb of Interaction to engage with the environment and encounter various Minecraft creatures. Tickets go on sale October 1, with individual tickets priced from .99 and multipack tickets starting at .99 per person. The experience is temporary and part of a touring production, with no closing date announced. American Dream also features attractions like Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park and DreamWorks Water Park, and plans to introduce a "Five Nights at Freddy’s"-themed attraction in the future.

Google Clock rolls out redesign of Timers with presets on Android

Google Clock has introduced a redesigned Timers tab with a fresh design and new app icon. The update includes preset timers for 1, 5, 10, and 15 minutes, which can be started with a tap. The interface now uses full labels for Hours, Minutes, and Seconds instead of abbreviations. The variability in wait times is due to these factors, and while Microsoft does not provide precise completion times, clearer messaging about the current task could improve user experience. The lack of information can create confusion between necessary updates and a system that appears stuck.

DLsite parent company’s new cloud engine-based service for playing PC titles via mobile launches on August 26

viviON, the parent company of DLsite, will launch its cloud gaming service, viviON Games, on August 26. This service allows users to play PC games on their smartphones using the OOParts cloud gaming engine, eliminating the need for downloads. It aims to enhance accessibility for players and developers, adopting a one-time purchase model. Leading up to the launch, viviON Games is revealing one game per day on its X account, with the first title being Daidai’s adventure horror game, The Aquarium Does Not Dance. A demo showcased various titles, including Yomawari: Lost in the Dark and One Way Heroics Plus, though the final launch lineup is yet to be confirmed.
