Roost Social and Carrier Pidge are mobile applications launched in April 2025 that allow users to send messages via carrier pigeons in a digital format. Roost features various birds and a turtle with different speeds, while Carrier Pidge focuses solely on pigeons. Roost was created by Logan Mendelsohn, who initially proposed the idea over a decade ago but revisited it in 2025, launching the app on April 30 after development. Noah Iarrobino spontaneously created Carrier Pidge within days, aided by AI tools. Both apps are free to download but include in-app purchases to cover operational costs. As of mid-August 2025, Roost has over 700,000 users, and Carrier Pidge has 76,000 users, reflecting a trend among younger demographics for simpler communication methods. Roost is available on both Apple and Google Play Stores, while Carrier Pidge is available only on the Apple App Store.

Riot Games has decided to cease active development of its fighting game, 2XKO, six months after significantly reducing its development team. This decision follows a layoff of approximately 80 developers due to the game's failure to generate the necessary momentum for long-term support. Despite attracting a considerable number of players and fostering a vibrant community, 2XKO did not achieve a sustainable player base. The game, which was officially confirmed in 2019 and released in January 2026, struggled to engage the broader fighting game community, despite being well-received by diehard tag fighter enthusiasts. Riot had previously expressed commitment to the game's future but has now acknowledged the need to conclude active development due to a lack of meaningful, sustained change in player engagement. The studio plans to provide a roadmap for remaining updates and support for the community.

The Deep Orange 17, an experimental solar prototype developed by graduate students at Clemson University, is named 'Luminetta' and features a boxy design inspired by the boxfish. It weighs 1,212 lb (550 kg) and incorporates over 1,700 photovoltaic cells, allowing it to generate up to 5.7 kWh of energy per day. The vehicle's solar array can potentially provide an additional 31 miles (50 km) of range from sunlight. The design focuses on extreme weight reduction and employs a skeletal chassis made from 3D-printed metal joints and lightweight composite body panels. The project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of an energy-positive vehicle, although its performance relies on ideal conditions and raises concerns about crash safety and comfort.
