In a groundbreaking collaboration, Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have unveiled plans for the first-ever Minecraft theme park, aptly named Minecraft World. Set to debut in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures, this ambitious £50 million project promises to immerse visitors in the beloved blocky universe that has captivated millions worldwide.
Exciting Attractions Await
The centerpiece of Minecraft World will be a pioneering roller coaster, described as a “world-first” experience. This thrilling ride will transport guests on a minecart journey through the Nether, where they will encounter various challenges and hostile mobs, all while racing against time to escape. The official description sets the stage for an exhilarating adventure:
“On this exciting new adventure, you’ll join Steve and Alex to battle your way through the Nether, coming face to face with hostile mobs before launching back to the Overworld. Will you escape? And yes, there’s lava. Lots of lava.”
Beyond the coaster, the park will offer a variety of interactive adventures and expansive block-built playscapes. Visitors can also indulge in themed dining experiences, including an underwater restaurant, and explore lush caves, mineshafts, and plains reminiscent of the Overworld. The experience will be further enhanced by opportunities to “meet mobs for real,” adding a layer of authenticity that fans will surely appreciate.
