Minecraft World to open in 2027 at Chessington park, near London: what this changes for its hotels

Merlin Entertainments is investing £50 million to create Minecraft World, a dedicated park zone at Chessington World of Adventures, set to open in 2027. The park will include a unique roller coaster, interactive trails, play areas made from blocks, and themed dining and shopping experiences. There are currently no plans for Minecraft-themed hotel rooms, although the resort has two existing hotels, Azteca and Safari, and an Explorer Glamping site. The strategic location near London is expected to attract families, potentially increasing overnight stays. Chessington World of Adventures is already home to themed rooms inspired by various franchises.

Minecraft to get Wilderness Bound update – new biome, disposable bed, and more to be added

Mojang Studios has announced the Wilderness Bound update for Minecraft, previously known as update “26.3.” This update will introduce a new biome called the Dappled Forest, featuring poplar trees with red, yellow, and orange leaves, as well as abandoned camps and mushroom beds. Players will also be able to craft a disposable block called the "straw bed," which allows them to skip the night without changing their spawn point, but it will disintegrate after use. Additionally, players can create a pillow from a "wool slab" for seating. The release date for the update is not yet announced, but it is expected in the coming weeks.

Netflix’s Minecraft TV Show Gets a Huge Update After Years of Uncertainty

Netflix's Minecraft animated series is still in production, confirmed by Jens Bergensten, Chief Creative Officer at Mojang Studios. The series was first announced in 2024 and features an original narrative with new characters. Flying Bark and WildBrain are collaborating on the animation. The series is a 30-minute CG-animated action-adventure comedy, with Kevin Adams, Joe Ksander, and A.C. Bradley involved in the production. The last major update was at the Annecy festival in June 2025, and while there is no official premiere date, estimates suggest a potential debut in 2027 or 2028. The series may launch after the live-action sequel, A Minecraft Movie Squared, which is set for release on July 23, 2027.
