System Restore is a recovery tool in Windows that allows users to revert their systems to a previous state, originating with Windows ME. It generates restore points that can be created manually or automatically, with a maximum retention of 60 days starting from the Windows 11 24H2 update in 2025. System Restore captures essential system files and settings but does not recover personal files. The new Point-in-Time Restore feature, introduced in 2025 and appearing in the Windows 11 Insider Experimental preview in April 2026, captures a broader range of data, including user files and applications, and operates on a scheduled basis with snapshots retained for up to 72 hours. It is optional for standard users, enabled by default for PCs with 200GB or more storage, and has storage limits set to 2% of total drive capacity. In enterprise settings, it is always enabled for Windows 365 Enterprise, maintaining restore points for up to one month and utilizing cloud storage. Point-in-Time Restore aims to improve the recovery experience and address limitations of the classic System Restore.

Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI has shifted from an exclusive agreement to a non-exclusive one, allowing OpenAI to offer its products on various cloud platforms while Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner. Microsoft is facing potential challenges, including its worst quarterly performance since 2008 and internal sales cuts due to low interest in its AI offerings. Despite this, CEO Satya Nadella reported that Microsoft 365 Copilot has reached 20 million paid enterprise seats, with user engagement increasing. However, there are concerns about the willingness of Microsoft 365 and Office 365 users to pay for Copilot. The non-exclusive agreement may weaken Microsoft's competitive edge, as OpenAI can now license its models to competitors. Microsoft is developing its own in-house AI models and has made leadership changes within its Copilot division to secure its position in the AI market. The future of Copilot in Windows 11 remains uncertain, but Microsoft continues to innovate with AI features across its platforms.

The cost of AVG Internet Security includes a single-device plan starting at a specified amount for the first year, which then increases to a higher annual fee, and a multi-device plan for up to ten devices that starts at a different amount for the first year and rises to a specified annual fee thereafter. The multi-device option allows sharing among family members. AVG Internet Security adds five features to its free antivirus: password protection, webcam safeguards, monitoring for unauthorized file access, defense against malicious website redirects, and protection against remote desktop protocol attacks. It does not include a VPN, which requires an upgrade or separate purchase. The installation process is straightforward, with a user-friendly dashboard. Users can initiate scans easily and choose from various scan types. AVG excels in real-time protection, scanning files upon access and monitoring applications for unusual behavior, including ransomware protection. As of 2025, users must set their own scheduled scans. AVG offers a secure browser during installation and a data shredder feature, though its effectiveness may vary. Customer support includes online chat, phone assistance, and comprehensive support pages. AVG Internet Security has received high marks for performance, detecting 100% of threats in controlled tests while minimally impacting system resources during regular use.

Beginning in May 2026, Microsoft will introduce Hotpatching as a default feature for compatible systems, allowing security updates to be applied without requiring a restart. Hotpatching updates code directly in the memory of running processes, enabling selective updates without interrupting the entire system. It does not replace monthly security updates but alters their activation process on eligible systems, categorized as security updates within the monthly B releases. Eligible systems must be running Windows 11 version 24H2 or newer and possess suitable licenses such as Enterprise, Education, Microsoft 365, or Windows 365. Management of these updates will be facilitated through Windows Autopatch or Microsoft Intune. Microsoft will continue to utilize baseline updates that require a restart, which will alternate with Hotpatch months. Hotpatching aims to reduce the frequency of restarts tied to security updates, particularly benefiting environments where uptime is critical. However, planned restarts will still be necessary, and robust telemetry and maintenance practices will be needed to ensure smooth operation.

Path tracing scalability is maximized on the RTX 5090 with 4K DLSS quality mode, while the RTX 5070 can achieve a commendable experience using optimized settings at 1440p DLSS balanced mode. The RTX 5070 is the most prevalent Blackwell GPU according to the Steam Hardware Survey, indicating that path tracing is becoming mainstream. Optimal performance in Pragmata on an 8GB GPU requires selecting the lowest texture quality setting due to bugs and potential stuttering with medium settings. Higher mesh quality settings may reduce geometry on 8GB cards. Optimized settings for Pragmata include various configurations for ray tracing, texture quality, and shadow quality, closely mirroring developer settings for current-generation consoles. Enabling the shadow cache option significantly improves frame rates by reusing existing shadow data.

Microsoft will eliminate the MSN news feed from the widgets panel in Windows 11, shifting to a "quiet by default" experience. This change includes disabling the automatic opening of the widgets panel when hovering over its taskbar icon and turning off distracting taskbar badges by default. Users will now see a more personalized set of information in the widgets panel instead of notifications related to stocks, weather, or news. These updates aim to create a less distracting interface and improve the overall user experience in Windows 11, with further enhancements expected throughout 2026.

The Pixel 9 Pro provides smooth performance, but users may experience lag with other phones. Caution is advised when using "optimizer" apps from the Google Play Store, as they may offer little benefit and could introduce malware. Built-in settings on Android phones can enhance performance without third-party apps. To access these features, enable Developer Options by tapping the Build Number seven times in the About Phone section of Settings. Adjustments to improve performance include: 1. Modifying animation settings: - Window animation scale: Controls speed of pop-up windows and menus. - Transition animation scale: Manages animation speed when switching screens. - Animator duration scale: Affects duration of internal UI animations. Setting these to 0.5x or turning them off can improve speed. 2. Reducing background processes: - Limit background processes to "At most 4 processes" for better performance, especially on devices with 4GB RAM or less. These adjustments can lead to a smoother and more responsive user experience.
