Grim Dawn is a polished action RPG developed by Crate Entertainment, celebrating its ten-year milestone. The recent expansion, Fangs of Asterkarn, introduces quality-of-life improvements, including full WASD movement support. The expansion also adds a new class, the berserker, which features a skill tree node for transformation into a werewolf. Grim Dawn offers a more relaxed gameplay experience compared to titles like Diablo 4. The game's ongoing development includes plans for Grim Dawn 2, as stated by founder Arthur Bruno. Microsoft accepts defeat on the Windows 11 Copilot key with a “Do nothing” switch, but PCs still ship with it

Windows 11 is testing a new feature that allows users to reassign the Copilot key to do nothing. The Copilot key has been present on newer Windows PCs since its introduction in 2024, and Microsoft considers a PC an AI PC only if it includes this key. Users can remap the Copilot key to preferred applications or restore it to its original function as the Right Ctrl key. An additional option, “Do nothing,” will make the Copilot key inactive. This feature is currently available in Windows Insider preview builds, with a public rollout expected soon. Microsoft acknowledged that the Copilot key has created challenges for users who rely on the Right Ctrl key or Context menu key, and it plans to allow customization of the Copilot key through Settings. Initially, only two remapping options were planned, but the “Do nothing” option was added in response to user feedback. Microsoft cautioned that remapping the Copilot key to the Right Ctrl key may cause inconsistencies with certain keyboard shortcuts.

Building a True Per-App Android Device Spoofer

Device spoofing in Android applications allows developers to manipulate device information, primarily through altering android.os.Build attributes. Existing spoofer applications often fail to modify native system API calls that retrieve genuine device information. Tweaks is a per-app spoofer integrated into AOSP and LineageOS, which changes device properties by modifying memory-mapped files under /dev/properties. It uses a private mount namespace to bind-mount modified property-context files, ensuring only the targeted application receives spoofed values while the rest of the system remains unaffected. The Tweaks app, which is platform-signed, communicates with the TweaksManagerService to write configurations and manage property overrides. The core functionality is handled by propgen, which generates property context files with spoofed values by identifying and patching properties in place. The TweaksManagerService ensures secure interactions and content-addresses generated property areas to allow sharing among apps with identical overrides. The spawn path in ProcessList.startProcess determines whether to apply spoofing based on conditions evaluated by the TweaksLocalService. Security is maintained through SELinux policies, which restrict access to spoofable properties. However, certain elements, such as /proc/self/mountinfo and /system/build.prop, still reveal authentic device information despite the spoofing capabilities of Tweaks. The source code for Tweaks and related patches is available for public access.

Simplify AI agent orchestration with Lakebase Postgres

The auditing process has traditionally been labor-intensive, requiring extensive document reviews. CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen LLP) partnered with the Databricks Forward Deployed Engineering team to develop a document processing application that reduces extraction time from hours to minutes while maintaining quality. The application is built on the Databricks platform, utilizing technologies like Lakebase Postgres, Databricks Apps, Lakeflow Jobs, MLflow, and Unity Catalog Volumes. The application addresses challenges in document parsing, including unpredictable per-task latency, rate-limit-aware throttling, workload prioritization, cost attribution per task, and real-time progress visibility. It eliminates the need for multiple specialized systems by integrating components such as a web application for user interaction, Lakebase for state management, an orchestrator for task management, and AI agents for document processing. The task queue is supported by two Postgres tables in Lakebase, tracking task status and execution attempts. Concurrency safety is ensured through a locking mechanism, and crash recovery is facilitated by lease-based locking. The orchestrator implements rate-limit-aware throttling and idempotent webhook callbacks to manage task processing effectively. An operator dashboard provides real-time metrics on task status, agent performance, and workload costs, with live updates through Postgres LISTEN/NOTIFY events. Cost attribution is managed at the application level, allowing for detailed monitoring of expenditures. Lakebase enhances the orchestration process with features like autoscaling compute, OAuth-rotated authentication, Unity Catalog integration, and support for branching and snapshots.

This installation occurs when an LG monitor is connected, leading to a McAfee pop-up due to automatic installation triggered by Windows Update, which is logged by the Windows Reliability Monitor. Users can prevent this by enabling a setting in the Group Policy Editor to stop automatic downloads of applications linked to device metadata. It is recommended that users who have manually installed the LG monitor app remove it, as McAfee is a core component of the application. Microsoft has not commented on this issue.
