Microsoft’s lightweight email app is shutting down soon

Microsoft will retire its Outlook Lite app for Android on May 25, 2026. After this date, the app will still launch, but functionality will be limited, with mailbox access disabled. Users are encouraged to switch to the full Outlook app to maintain access to their emails and calendar items, as user accounts will not be deleted or disabled. An “Upgrade” option in the Lite app will direct users to the Outlook page on Google Play. Alternative email applications like Proton Mail and Gmail are also available for users who do not wish to use the full Outlook app.

Previewing Recall with Click to Do on Copilot+ PCs with Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2415 (KB5046723) has been released to the Dev Channel, introducing features like Recall (Preview) and Click to Do (Preview) for Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs. Users can join the Dev Channel by registering for the Windows Insider Program and selecting the Dev Channel in the settings. Recall allows users to search for previously interacted items on their PC using AI, requiring Windows Hello for authentication and enabling BitLocker and Secure Boot. Users can manage saved snapshots, delete unwanted ones, and ensure their data remains private. Recall detects sensitive information and does not save such snapshots. Click to Do integrates with Recall to enhance productivity by offering actions for recognized text and images within snapshots. This feature is also currently exclusive to Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs. The update includes various improvements and fixes across Windows 11 PCs, such as enhancements to Windows Hello, Narrator, and speech functionalities. Known issues with Recall and Click to Do will be addressed in future updates.

Mozilla’s Thunderbird email app for Android is finally available

Mozilla has launched an official Thunderbird app for Android after over two decades of absence from the mobile email application market. The app is based on the open-source code of K-9, an email application that Mozilla acquired, and has been developed in collaboration with the original K-9 team since 2022. The beta version of the app received positive feedback, leading to a swift transition to a stable version. The Thunderbird app features a refreshed interface and new functionalities while retaining some familiar features from K-9. It is now available for download on the Play Store.
