Legendary JRPG studio’s 23-year shun of the PC has ended: the next Vanillaware game will come to Steam

Vanillaware has announced its latest project, Muramasa: Revenant Blades, during a recent Nintendo Direct. This action RPG is a revamped version of Muramasa: The Demon Blade, originally released in 2009 for the Wii, and will be available on Steam in 2027. The game aims to evoke nostalgia with a clean level structure, challenging boss encounters, and a melodic soundtrack. It will include the Genroku Legends expansion, new combat and weapon systems, enhanced visuals with 4K support, and additional gameplay modes.

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear And More Classics Are Getting Remastered

Digital Eclipse is set to release a remastered collection titled Toy Story: Retro Roundup on October 15, featuring 11 games, including nine from the Toy Story series and two from A Bug’s Life, for consoles and PC. The collection includes titles such as Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue! (1999), and A Bug’s Life (1998). Enhanced features will include improved rendering, gameplay rewind, and cheats, along with exclusive developer interviews and behind-the-scenes content. Additionally, Toy Story 3: Complete Edition will be released, offering updated visuals and new gameplay options. The collection will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, Switch 2, and PC, with a bundle option for most platforms. There will be no physical release for Xbox.

Don’t pay $30 for Tomb Raider I–III Remastered. It’s free right now

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is currently available for free on the Epic Games Store, a significant reduction from its usual price of .99. The remastered collection includes Tomb Raider I (1996) with the Unfinished Business expansion, Tomb Raider II (1997) with the Golden Mask expansion, and Tomb Raider III (1998) with The Lost Artifact expansion. Developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Aspyr, the remasters use the original game code but feature enhanced visuals and refined controls. Players can toggle back to classic graphics and access a special challenge mode with level modifications and ten new outfits for Lara. Atari just bought the rights to the big daddy of PC RPGs, and a reissue campaign is afoot

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, released in 1981, is recognized as the first grid-based, first-person RPG. The game featured simple monochrome graphics but provided a complex gaming experience, particularly popular in Japan. Different platform versions showed variations, with Nintendo ports offering enhanced visuals. The first five Wizardry games are becoming less available, except for a remake of Proving Grounds set for release in 2024. Recent Wizardry titles have adopted an anime aesthetic in character design.
