Minecraft Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date Announced

Mojang Studios announced that Minecraft will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, featuring improved performance and an updated Super Mario Mash-Up Pack. Originally released in 2009, Minecraft became fully available in 2011 and was acquired by Microsoft in 2014. The game has sold over 300 million copies, making it the best-selling video game of all time. The Nintendo Switch version debuted in 2017, with a cross-platform Bedrock version replacing the original in 2018. The Switch 2 version will include enhanced visuals, improved lighting, and richer shadows. The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will also be updated for better graphics. Players who own Minecraft on the original Switch will have a digital upgrade path to the new console.

Google is bringing back native app lock for Android, but not for everyone yet

The latest Android Canary release introduces a new feature that allows users to lock multiple apps simultaneously through the settings menu, enhancing the app lock functionality. This feature is accessible under Settings > Security & privacy > App lock and allows users to organize locked apps in a list view. Once locked, apps will not display notification content, and their widgets and shortcuts will be hidden, although AI agents can still access their data if previously permitted. Users need to enter a PIN or use biometric authentication to access locked apps, which will also remain hidden from the recents menu. This development positions Google alongside competitors like Xiaomi and vivo, who offer similar features.

Microsoft admits it force-installed AI-powered OneDrive on Windows 11, says it’s not training on your faces (really)

Microsoft has confirmed that it has force-installed the OneDrive Photos app on Windows 11 PCs, including enterprise devices managed through Intune, despite the app being designed for personal Microsoft accounts only. IT departments can either remove OneDrive entirely or keep both the sync client and the new app. Microsoft acknowledged the unintended rollout but has not provided further clarification. The OneDrive Photos app features an AI-enhanced "People" feature, which is disabled by default and does not analyze photos stored solely on users' PCs. Face grouping occurs only in the cloud on images stored in OneDrive, and any data collected is deleted within 30 days if the feature is turned off. Users currently cannot remove the app independently; doing so requires the complete removal of OneDrive. An update is expected to allow users to uninstall the OneDrive Photos app separately.
