How to block and unblock a number on your Android phone

To block a number on a Samsung Android phone, open the Contacts app, select the contact, tap More, choose Block contact, and confirm. Alternatively, in the Phone app, copy the number, tap More, select Settings, tap Block numbers, add the number, and tap the plus sign. To block a number from the Recents section, navigate to the number, tap Details, More Options, and Block number. For Pixel phones or stock Android, open the Phone app, tap More, select Call history, choose the call, and tap Block/report spam. To unblock a number on a Samsung device, open the Contacts app, select the contact, tap More options, and select Unblock contact. In the Phone app, tap More, select Settings, tap Block numbers, and tap the (-) next to the number. For Google Pixel and stock Android, open the Phone app, tap More, select Settings, tap Blocked numbers, and tap Clear (x) next to the number. Calls made during the blocking period will not appear in call logs.

The command sfc /scannow checks all protected files, while /verifyonly provides a report without changes. SFC's effectiveness depends on the integrity of the component store, making it essential to run DISM first. Results are logged in C:WindowsLogsCBSCBS.log. Quick Machine Recovery (QMR), introduced in Windows 11, addresses boot failures by connecting to the internet to find solutions when repeated boot failures are detected. QMR is enabled by default on unmanaged devices and can continuously check for fixes. It is designed to respond to widespread issues rather than unique problems and may not work effectively on older hardware or without a network connection. Together, these tools provide a comprehensive approach to system maintenance in Windows 11, ensuring the operating system remains healthy and efficient without additional software.

The final CD version, Release to Manufacturing (RTM), was completed on August 24, 2001, two months before the official launch on October 25. A leak of the Volume image and its Volume License Key (VLK) is believed to have originated from a major OEM, possibly Dell or Intel, which was exploited by the pirate group Devils0wn, allowing broader access to Windows XP.

Microsoft responded by blacklisting product IDs associated with the compromised keys in Service Pack 1 and blocking updates for installations using the FCKGW key in Service Pack 2. Valid, un-leaked Volume License Keys (VLKs) remained functional for years after the incident. Plummer noted that the media and the key were leaked before the product reached stores, preventing the intended hardware-binding from functioning.

Active Exploitation Alert: Threat Actors Abuse Anthropic Claude AI to Extract Secrets from 1.8M Android Apps in Major Credential Theft Campaign

Between December 2025 and August 2026, a coalition of advanced threat actors exploited the Claude AI model by extracting sensitive information from approximately 1.8 million Android applications. The operation involved groups such as ShinyHunters, Midnight Blizzard (APT29/Nobelium), and the Chinese-speaking entity GTG-10007. They automated the mass download, decompilation, and analysis of Android APKs for hardcoded credentials, API keys, and authentication tokens, leading to extensive credential theft and breaches across various sectors. The attack utilized a distributed pipeline on ten AWS EC2 instances to download APKs, which were then scanned using TruffleHog. Verified secrets were organized and routed in real-time to a private Telegram group for operational deployment. Over 2,100 Azure AD authentication tokens were extracted from more than 40 Microsoft tenants within 34 hours. The operation also included a carding component where stolen payment card data was sold. The tactics employed aligned with several MITRE ATT&CK techniques, including file discovery, unsecured credentials, valid accounts, phishing, and exploitation of remote services. ShinyHunters gained administrative control over targeted environments rapidly, leading to bulk data theft affecting over 200 organizations. Midnight Blizzard automated malware creation and phishing campaigns, targeting government and defense entities. GTG-10007 used Claude for coordinated offensive operations, discovering zero-day vulnerabilities and delivering exploits. Initially, the campaign targeted a broad range of Android APKs but later focused on organizations with valuable credentials across various sectors, including government, technology, and healthcare. Compromises were confirmed in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Organizations are advised to audit Android applications for hardcoded secrets, monitor API key usage, and implement robust security practices to mitigate risks.
