Android is used across a wide range of devices, encouraging developers to create applications for various use cases. Android users can find apps for messaging, video editing, photography, productivity, music, navigation, fitness, education, file management, streaming, social networking, and mobile gaming. Modern phones can run games with console-like graphics, multiplayer systems, cloud synchronization, controller support, and large open worlds. Users can download APK files outside Google Play for various reasons, such as version availability and geographic restrictions. A reliable APK download website should provide detailed information about the application before installation. Users should verify the application name, package name, version, Android compatibility, and permissions before installing an APK. XAPK files package the APK with additional resources required by larger applications or games. Android security is becoming stricter, with more protections around application permissions, background activity, storage access, outdated applications, and unknown installation sources. Access to previous app versions can be useful in case updates introduce issues. Android applications are becoming more powerful, performing tasks that previously required computers, thanks to hardware improvements such as powerful processors, large memory, high-refresh-rate displays, fast storage, and capable GPUs.

Samsung's Gallery app has a hidden menu called Gallery Labs that offers additional features beyond the well-known tools. To enable Gallery Labs, users must open the app, access the menu, go to Settings, tap on About Gallery, and then tap the version number ten times. Once enabled, users can lock albums with a PIN or fingerprint, create slideshows with selected items, save images as PDFs, add a seek bar for videos, enable a timeline view for albums, and turn off video previews. Gallery Labs is regularly updated, and users can reset settings or disable the menu if needed. Similar hidden features exist in other Samsung apps like Wi-Fi settings and My Files.

A Samsung C410W printer has been repurposed by a maker named vimpo to host a Minecraft server, leveraging its debug serial port and LAN Test Protocol. The printer, despite being from the mid-2010s, features Wi-Fi connectivity and has 23 megabytes of RAM. Vimpo crafted a payload to redirect execution to activate the printer's status lights, allowing the lightweight UCraft server to run. This server, with a binary size of about 46 kilobytes, enables basic gameplay for a single player but has limitations in processing power, leading to lag when multiple players connect. The exploit and server code are publicly available for others to replicate this project.

Microsoft has removed the OneDrive Photos app from the Start menu and Windows Search results as part of efforts to improve user experience and address feedback about its intrusive nature. The app was initially force-installed on Windows 10 and 11 devices but faced backlash due to difficulties in launching and uninstalling it. Microsoft acknowledged that the app's widespread release was unintended and plans to allow users to uninstall it independently from the OneDrive sync client later this year. Although OneDrive Photos is hidden from the Start menu and search results, it remains installed on users' PCs and can still be accessed through the OneDrive installation folder.
