The Google Play Store is introducing a new feature in version v52.4.41-34 that includes a dedicated language selector for its voice search tool, allowing users to choose from over 20 languages. Currently, the voice search only recognizes English, but the upcoming feature will enable users to select their preferred language directly, facilitating search queries in that language. Early testing has shown successful recognition of Hindi terms, although the feature does not yet support automatic language detection. The Play Store will also remember recently used languages for easier toggling. This feature is still in development and not yet available to the public.

Users can enable the "Personal Intelligence" feature for tailored responses based on personal preferences. The Nano Banana feature will let users create or modify visuals from web pages. The auto browse function will allow Chrome to perform tasks like reserving parking or updating orders automatically. These features will include security protections, but sensitive actions will still require user confirmation. Gemini in Chrome will require devices with at least 4GB of RAM, running Android 12 or newer, and set to English-U.S. The rollout will begin for select Android devices in the U.S. at the end of June, with the auto browse feature available initially only to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

Chrome's new Skills feature allows users to save AI prompts as one-click tools directly from their chat history. Users can trigger these prompts using a forward slash (/) or the plus (+) button. Skills can operate on the current page while also pulling data from other open tabs. This feature is designed to streamline repetitive tasks and improve user experience by applying saved prompts without needing to reconfigure them for different pages. User consent is prioritized for significant actions, and the update is currently available to select users on Chrome desktop with English-US language settings. Saved Skills will sync across all desktop devices for signed-in users. Users can manage their Skills by typing the forward slash (/) and clicking the compass icon.

Researchers from Kaspersky have discovered an Android backdoor named Keenadu, embedded in the firmware of devices, allowing it to infect tablets before they reach consumers. This malware, affecting over 13,700 users globally, primarily targets advertising fraud by hijacking browser search engines, monitoring app installations, and generating fraudulent revenue. Tablets from various manufacturers, including Alldocube, have been found compromised, with the malware likely inserted during the firmware build stage through a compromised supply chain. Keenadu has multiple variants, some hidden in applications, and employs evasion tactics based on device language settings and time zones. It cannot be removed using standard Android security tools, and users are advised to install clean firmware or replace their devices entirely.

Apple has integrated Google Cast functionality into its Apple TV app for Android devices, allowing users to stream Apple TV shows and movies to larger screens using Chromecast devices, Cast-enabled televisions, and Nest Hub displays. The update, version 2.2, includes a persistent Cast button on the app's home screen, enabling users to view nearby casting options and control playback from their mobile devices. This update addresses a gap in the app's features since its launch, enhancing the user experience for Android users. The integration of Google Play Billing also facilitates a smoother sign-up process for new users. This move contrasts with Netflix's recent reduction of casting options, highlighting Apple's commitment to cross-platform convenience. Playback quality can reach up to 4K with HDR, depending on hardware and network conditions, and the update is being rolled out through the Google Play Store.
