Your next Google Play subscription could work very differently

Google Play is introducing new subscription features aimed at AI applications and services with variable costs. These include Usage-Based Billing, allowing users to maintain a prepaid balance that replenishes automatically; Multi-Quantity Subscriptions for organizations to purchase multiple subscriptions in one transaction; Mixed Carts for offering auto-renewing subscriptions alongside one-time purchases; and Cross-Developer Bundling for selling complementary subscriptions from different developers as a single package. Additionally, Google is enhancing user retention through a Dynamic Grace Period for payment issues, Retention Offers during cancellation, and personalized winback offers for former subscribers. Many of these features are currently available or being rolled out through Google's Early Access Program.

Gemini app adding Google Wallet integration for ‘personalized insights’

The Gemini Connected App has introduced a feature called Google Wallet, which provides users with tailored information based on their stored data, helping manage digital assets like loyalty cards and travel documents. Users can retrieve information such as boarding passes and airline loyalty numbers. The app also offers financial insights, including transaction data from services like Plaid, expense summaries, budgeting tips, and overviews of rewards linked to stored cards. This integration is currently exclusive to Google Wallet users in the U.S. and allows users to ask questions about their spending habits. However, users cannot execute transactions or modify linked financial accounts through the app. The feature is being gradually rolled out and is limited to personal Google Accounts in the U.S.

Confused? Your Windows 10 PC still works, but the clock is running out

A customer visited a service center with a functional Dell laptop running Windows 10, which lost mainstream support from Microsoft in October 2022. While the laptop still operates, Microsoft no longer patches security vulnerabilities for Windows 10 unless specific actions are taken. Users have three options: 1. Upgrade to Windows 11 for free if the PC meets requirements, which can be checked with the "PC Health Check" app. 2. Purchase a new or refurbished PC, especially if the current device is six or seven years old. 3. Enroll in extended security updates through methods such as syncing with a Microsoft account, redeeming rewards points, or paying a fee, valid until October 2027. There has been an increase in scams related to Windows 10, with fraudulent popups and calls misleading users about their operating system's status. Microsoft will not contact users unexpectedly regarding expired systems. Users should check their PC's eligibility for Windows 11 using the "PC Health Check" app and seek professional help if needed.

F-Droid’s biggest update in a decade is coming despite Google’s sideloading crackdown

Version 2.0 is still in development, with an alpha build available on APK Mirror but lacking all features. No specific release date has been announced.
