Samsung Messages will cease to function in July 2026, resulting in the loss of any unmigrated text history. Users are encouraged to transition to Google Messages, which offers features like RCS-enabled texting, high-quality image sharing, AI-powered spam detection, multi-device access, and Gemini AI features. Samsung provides instructions for this migration, especially for users on Android 12 and 13. The exact date in July for the service discontinuation is unspecified, but only emergency messaging will remain functional afterward. Samsung Messages was no longer the default app since 2021 and stopped being preinstalled in 2024. Users on Android 11 or earlier are not directly affected but are advised to switch to Google Messages. Older Galaxy Watches running Tizen will have limited access to conversation histories, while newer models on WearOS will retain full access.

Proton Mail now allows users to import Gmail emails directly into the app, enabling them to send emails from their Gmail address within Proton Mail. This feature removes trackers and ads from emails, enhancing user privacy. Users can link their Gmail accounts through the Easy Switch section in Proton Mail settings, and Proton assures that this connection does not give Google access to their Proton Mail inbox. Emails exchanged between linked Gmail accounts using Proton Mail can achieve end-to-end encryption, preventing Google from using email interactions for advertising profiling. However, Google can still access emails that remain in Gmail inboxes. The rollout of this feature is currently underway for Proton Mail users.

The Telangana government has transitioned its MeeSeva platform from Oracle to the open-source PostgreSQL database, announced by Ravikiran Tirumala, Commissioner of Electronic Services Delivery. MeeSeva processes over 80,000 government-to-citizen transactions daily, totaling nearly 20 crore transactions since its inception. The migration, using the open-source tool “ora2pg,” took less than four hours of downtime. The annual cost of Oracle licensing and maintenance was around ₹10 crore, while the migration cost was under ₹1 crore, leading to estimated recurring annual savings of about ₹10 crore. PostgreSQL has effectively managed high transaction volumes without performance issues. Telangana plans to document and share its migration process to encourage the adoption of open-source technologies in other government systems.

On October 10, 2025, Microsoft ceased support for Windows 10, ending technical assistance, feature updates, and security updates. Organizations are required to transition to Windows 11. During the migration, IT administrators may face errors indicating that certain device settings were not successfully migrated, which can disrupt user experience. Causes of these errors include outdated or incompatible device drivers, failing physical components, incompatible software, restrictive group policies, missing registry keys, and interference from third-party tools. Affected devices may malfunction, impacting productivity. IT teams can troubleshoot these issues by restarting computers, identifying problematic devices using Device Manager, verifying and updating device drivers, checking physical devices, ensuring the operating environment is up to date, utilizing Microsoft command-line utilities, and performing clean boots or system restores if necessary.

Support for OrientDB in Sonatype Nexus Repository has been discontinued, and older versions of Nexus Repository (prior to 3.70.5) are built on an outdated architecture that presents high-severity vulnerabilities and cannot be fully patched. The recommended database for Nexus Repository is now PostgreSQL, which offers better performance and support for modern architectures. Users have two migration options: transition to Sonatype Nexus Repository Cloud, which is fully managed and eliminates database management, or migrate to PostgreSQL while maintaining a self-hosted environment, which requires ongoing maintenance and infrastructure ownership.
