Windows 11 setup now prompts you to install TikTok and Netflix apps during first boot

Microsoft has introduced a new feature called Assisted Setup in Windows 11, which allows users to install popular third-party applications like TikTok, WhatsApp, and Spotify immediately after the out-of-box experience (OOBE). This feature is gradually rolling out with build 26340.9354, released on September 8. Users can opt for automatic downloads and installations of these applications, but they must explicitly consent to download them, unlike pre-installed apps like OneDrive and Phone Link. The setup process also allows users to pin popular websites to the taskbar, with recommendations based on geographical location. Windows 11 26H2 has been officially released.

How to find and hide an app on Android Auto

The sudden disappearance of apps from the Android Auto launcher can be resolved by launching the app on your phone and reconnecting to Android Auto. This issue is often due to features in the Android operating system, such as Samsung's automatic disabling of unused apps to conserve battery life. To prevent apps from disappearing, users can disable the "Auto disable unused apps" setting in their phone's battery settings. Users can also customize the apps displayed in Android Auto by navigating to Settings > Connected devices > Android Auto > Customize launcher. Not all applications are compatible with Android Auto; only those designed for the platform will appear. While there is no dedicated "hide app" function, users can manage app visibility through customization options.

I’ve Been Gaming On Linux For Five Years – Is It Ready To Replace Windows?

Steam Deck debuted in early 2022 with SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system that uses the Wine-based Proton compatibility layer to run Windows games. This development has significantly advanced Linux gaming, with approximately 95% of games functioning well on Linux. Steam's Verified program lists nearly 9,000 Verified games, and around 30,000 playable titles, with only about 1% of popular games failing to run entirely. Anti-cheat systems remain a major limitation, preventing popular titles like "Fortnite" and "League of Legends" from being playable on Linux. Game streaming services like NVIDIA GeForce NOW offer alternatives for playing anti-cheat games on Linux. Linux distributions provide better controller support compared to Windows, particularly for handhelds and living room PCs. Accessing non-Steam games can be cumbersome, though tools like Heroic Launcher help. Compatibility issues with proprietary standards, such as HDMI 2.1 support, persist in Linux gaming.

Rockstar considered having four protagonists in Grand Theft Auto 6, but the studio ‘worried about diluting the amount of player time’ with each character

Rockstar has reduced the number of playable characters in Grand Theft Auto 6 from three to two, prioritizing a more intimate narrative experience. The decision was influenced by concerns about diluting player connection with characters if more were introduced. The focus on two protagonists aims to foster a strong emotional bond and chemistry between them, enhancing player engagement. The game features a world three times larger than Red Dead Redemption 2 and a nuanced honor system, but the central partnership between the two characters is expected to define this installment.

After GTA 6: Extended Look Showed Rockstar’s Game Running at 30FPS, Tech Experts Say a 60FPS Console Version Is ‘Extremely Unlikely’ and ‘Genuinely Challenging’ Even on PC

Digital Foundry has analyzed the recent 27-minute reveal of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 6, which showcased gameplay at 30 frames per second (fps). The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this November, with a focus on maximizing visual detail at the fixed frame rate. Significant advancements in character rendering, including skin shading and hair simulation, have been noted. The internal rendering on the PS5 is speculated to operate at 1440p without dynamic resolution scaling, although this may result in some softness and aliasing. Digital Foundry expresses skepticism about the feasibility of a 60fps mode on current consoles, citing the game's design balance and the complex CPU demands of its detailed world. Future console iterations and a PC release may support higher resolutions and features like DLSS, but achieving 60fps could still be challenging. IGN has provided exclusive insights into various aspects of the game, including its romance system and expansive map.
