After WSL installation, developers can use WSL Comfort scripts to install additional tools and personalize their Windows Terminal experience. This utility has two phases: the Windows component configures WSL and Ubuntu, while the Linux component fine-tunes the WSL environment, allowing for zsh and starship terminal display tools. Microsoft admits 8GB RAM is fine for Windows 11, after years of pushing 16GB as the baseline

The introduction of Apple's MacBook Neo with 8GB of RAM at an attractive price has influenced Microsoft's stance, leading to the launch of Surface devices with 8GB of RAM. The buying guide promotes 8GB for everyday tasks, while an AI store assistant suggests 16GB for a "future-proof" laptop. Historically, Windows 10 had a minimum RAM requirement of 2GB, with 4GB recommended for optimal performance, but Windows 11 has increased these requirements. Microsoft's investments in AI infrastructure have contributed to a RAM shortage. The Copilot+ PC branding aimed for a new hardware tier but has not met expectations. You can finally turn Riot’s Vanguard anti-cheat off when you’re not playing a game

Riot Games is updating its Vanguard anti-cheat system to an "on-demand" model, which will only activate during gameplay and stop once the game ends. Morphe v1.32.0 brings back a heavily missed YouTube feature

Morphe has released its v1.32.0 patch bundle, which includes interface enhancements and bug fixes. Key features include a settings toggle to revert to the previous video action bar layout, restoring the dislike counter on YouTube (as estimates), and the option to hide the “Connect” button. Government’s homegrown messaging app ‘NepaConnect’ appears on google play store

A government-developed messaging application named NepaConnect has been launched on the Google Play Store, aiming to provide a secure internal communications platform for state officials in Nepal. The initiative, disclosed by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, involves the creation of a sovereign digital infrastructure with a team of around 80 technical professionals. NepaConnect features include encrypted communication, document sharing, secure file storage, location sharing, voice messaging, document scanning, meeting scheduling, AI integration, status feeds, and ride-management services. The app is designed to centralize various workplace functions and reduce reliance on foreign communication platforms. However, details about its security standards, encryption protocols, and overall transparency remain limited. Currently, the application is in early development stages, with some features incomplete or non-functional. The future success of NepaConnect will depend on factors such as cybersecurity, user adoption, and the government's ability to encourage civil servants to switch from existing platforms.

GM just ‘unlocked’ over 200 Android Automotive apps, including YouTube, for its Google built-in vehicles

General Motors (GM) is expanding its Google built-in vehicles to support over 200 additional Android Automotive apps, enhancing the entertainment experience for passengers with access to applications on backseat screens. GM is phasing out support for Android Auto and CarPlay in newer models, relying instead on an integrated infotainment system that utilizes Android Automotive apps. The latest software updates allow vehicles with Google built-in to access a wide range of apps from the center display and on front and rear passenger screens. Streaming apps available include YouTube, Disney+, and Hulu, with support for these apps on backseat displays in select vehicles. Models from the 2025 lineup that will support these applications include the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, Cadillac Escalade and CELESTIQ, and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. Additional streaming services expected to be available include AMC+, Tubi, TuneIn, ViX, and more.
