To create gunpowder in Windrose, you need 10 units of sulfur and 20 units of ash, which must be combined at a Millstone. You cannot craft gunpowder until you complete the main quest "Revenge is Best Served Cold." Sulfur can only be mined with an Iron Pickaxe, which requires significant game progression. Before crafting gunpowder, you must complete the quests "Rescuing the Crew" and "I Need a Bigger Boat," defeat Thomas Richards, travel to the Foothills to mine Foothills Iron Ore for ingots, discover corn in the Foothills to unlock the Millstone recipe, and craft an Iron Pickaxe. Sulfur can be found in the Coastal Jungle and Foothills biomes, while ash can be obtained from burning wood at the Charcoal Kiln or grinding charcoal at the Millstone.

New players in "Minecraft" survival mode face dangers from skeletons, zombies, and creepers on their first night. Essential tips for crafting a beginner base include gathering resources quickly, such as collecting 10-15 logs from trees to create a crafting table and wooden tools. Players should mine 10 cobblestone for stone tools and look for sheep or cows for food and wool. Choosing the right location for the base is crucial; ideal spots are flat plains near rivers with nearby trees. Players should avoid deserts and mountains due to structural weaknesses and navigation difficulties. A simple underground starter base can be created by digging a 4x4 hole three blocks deep, covering it with dirt or cobblestone, and illuminating it with torches to prevent mob spawns. Key items for survival include crafting a bed from wool and planks to set a spawn point and skip nights, as well as cooking food to restore hunger. Common pitfalls to avoid include leaving roofs open, not lighting areas, and forgetting to cook food. As dawn breaks, players should reinforce their base, plant crops, and explore for resources. Regularly gathering wood and torches prepares players for future challenges.

Windrose is a co-op pirate survival game that combines base-building, ship-to-ship combat, and open-world exploration. Players begin the game shipwrecked on a desolate island after an encounter with Blackbeard, where they gather resources, craft a base, repair their ship, and rescue their crew. Key features include: - Hunger and thirst mechanics, where food buffs attributes but does not cause death from starvation. - Weather effects present, but no negative impacts observed. - Health is managed through a single meter, with potions and bandages for healing. - Only online co-op is available; no PvP. - PvE interactions with animals, zombies, and enemy pirates. - Crafting system that pulls from nearby storage chests. - Base-building similar to Palworld's system. - Custom settings for health and damage adjustments. - Limited farming options currently available. - No NPC companions, but players can hire NPCs to assist at crafting stations. - Death results in dropping raw resources but retaining crafted items. - Crew members sing sea shanties during voyages. - Shared progress allows joining friends' games. Fishing is not yet implemented, but planned for future updates. The ship-to-ship combat is engaging, while melee combat can feel repetitive. Windrose is expected to remain in early access for one to three years, with about half of the planned content currently available. The game is priced reasonably, with a 10% discount at launch, but players should anticipate a wait for additional content. Performance is generally stable, though there are occasional slowdowns.
